International projection of the scientific production in spanish

Abstract

This article aims to offer a vision of the present situation of scientific and technical Spanish in the international field. In the first place, it is offered a brief perspective of the representativeness of Spaniards abroad. Later on, it is analized the transfer of knowledge through the publication of articles in impact journals; in the same way, the situation of scientific Spanish is compared to that related to other languages. Later on, the situation of general, business, and scientific Spanish – the least disseminated field - is contrasted. It is also highlighted the importance of the two first branches, fact which added to the movements of the linguistic cycles and to the forecast of the expansion of Spanish in the half of the present century may lead to an increase in the representation of the scientific language in the coming years.
