Abstract

Golf has been one of the fastest-growing sports in Spain over the last two decades: the number of courses has tripled and the number of registered golfers has increased almost 18 times. The courses are distributed all over the country although the highest concentration continues to be found near the Mediterranean coast in order to attract european tourist, particularly those from britain. Golf is still the sport of a privileged minority as it is so expensive: it is an excellent monev-spinner for the tourist trade.
