Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explicate the development of a unit titled ‘Seminar of Social Anthropology (Theory and Practice of Research)’, which was offered as an elective module (6 ECTS credits) to students pursuing the last two years of the Bachelor of Philosophy at the University of Murcia in the academic year 2009/2010. The goal of the seminar was to enable students to learn how to do research in Socio-Cultural Anthropology, through participating in a research project on life stories during Francoism. We start explaining the didactic method (Learning by doing), we explain the ethnographic method (biographical interviews and/or life stories), and we explain the dynamics of the seminar. Finally, some critical assessments on the unit itself, its methods and the obtained results are pointed out.
