Focus and scope
The Revista de Investigación Lingüística is a scientific periodical devoted to the study of the Spanish language and general linguistics in all its varieties, from any theoretical model or methodological approach appropriate to the author's approach. Papers may adopt either a synchronic or diachronic perspective. In addition to accepting articles of a traditional philological nature, the journal aims to act as a means of disseminating the latest theoretical and methodological approaches developed in the studies of the Spanish language and general linguistics.
RIL's editorial line covers a wide variety of areas of study: discourse analysis, history of language, history of linguistics, lexicography, lexicology, general linguistics, pragmatics, semantics, syntax, sociolinguistics, terminology, and varieties of Spanish. Based on confidential reports from external reviewers, the journal decides on the publication of the articles received, which must be unpublished originals.
Since 2004, the Revista de Investigación Lingüística has been published annually. Currently, each issue consists of a general section, which publishes articles on the Spanish language and general linguistics, and a section dedicated to book reviews. The journal may also publish monographs, whose articles address a specific topic under the supervision of one or more specialists.
The Revista de Investigación Lingüística has been published exclusively electronically since 2020 through the OJS system, available at https://revistas.um.es/ril, where the content of all issues is offered in digital format.
