Neología y Morfología variacional: verbos con infijo en el ladino dolomítico
Abstract
This study offers an analysis of the relationship between neological formations, morphological patterns, and (socio)linguistic variation within the area of Dolomitic Ladin (Northern Italy). The focus of the study is on the conjugation patterns of neological verbs with or without the infi x –ID(I)–. The diachronic and synchronic analysis of the conjugation patterns of these verbs reveals (a) divergent sociolinguistic attitudes among the speakers of these Ladin Dolomitic varieties, and (b) the existence of complex processes of semantic-syntactic and subsemantic differentiation between verbal doublets brought about by neological formation. The study focuses on the description and explanation of phenomena that show the interplay between neology and (variational) morphology.Downloads
