Abstract

In the nineteenth-century mineralogy works, minerals are described according to several features. In this article, we are going to focus our attention on the linguistic mechanisms used by Sebastián de Alvarado y de la Peña to explain the colour of each of the minerals he studies, bearing in mind that this work is partly a translation from French and one of the first ones published in Spain about this subject.
