Abstract

Deirdre Wilson and Dan Sperber off er a brief account of the Relevance Th eory. Relevance is considered to be a basic property of the human mind in order to explain knowledge and communication. Th e analysis of a wide range of topics regarding the relationship between Semantics and Pragmatics is made by discussing the Gricean and neo-gricean points of view. Moreover, the authors uphold the possibility to place the relevance within the frame of a modular theory of mind. A substantial and updated bibliography on these matters is also provided.
