Abstract

This research, based on the corpus of sixteen legal sentences brought in by the Supreme Court Social Council in 2006, examines the capacity of the qualitative adjectives to form a part of the binary system (and thus function as polarity correlation terms), as well as their position inside a nominal syntagma, where they can serve as restrictive or non-restrictive modifi ers. The research also focuses on the syntactic group which qualitative adjectives make up together with certain modifiers (adverbs of grade and adverbs ending in –mente) and the adjectival syntagma performing the function of a predicative object.
