FONÉTICA HISTÓRICA DEL DIALECTO NAVARRO A TRAVÉS DEL ALEANR Y DEL FUERO GENERAL DE NAVARRA
Abstract
This work deals with the study of phonetic features in the Navarrese dialect, with the aid of tools such as the "Fuero General de Navarra" and the "Atlas Lingüístico y Etnográfico de Aragón, Navarra y La Rioja". We have found phonetic matches comparing data from both sources, even though it seems obvious that Castilian has acted as a leveling force throughout the centuries and thus Navarrese has come to adopt Castilian phonology, with a few archaic features still standing in the rural vernacular. Navarrese connects with the western peninsular dialects, such as Leonese, in the retention of Latin -MB-, which Castilian simplified to -M-Downloads
