Abstract

From a theoretical point of view, this paper examines some of the key areas in which the variation is evident within the specialized languages: from the same nomenclature of this approach through the methodology used throughout its evolution; the characteristics of the specialized language; or the variation among the genres of different disciplines within the professional and academic fields. The smooth integration of this variation in the different stages of LPS for more than a century indicates equal development in language teaching for academic and professional purposes.
