Estética y marginalidad en la poesía de José Mª Álvarez

Abstract

The study we are going to present tries to refl ect the essential characteristcs of the poetry of Cartagena born José María Alvarez, not always estimated in fair measure. His poetry, without up or downs, shows a remarkable quality and an unquestionable beauty. The poet´s wide culture and his continuous journeys make a solid base that allows him to embrace an ample range of registers that fl ow from the most elevated poetically to the most downcast socially, touching issues that refl ect marginal sectors, which seems less convenient to a genre like poetry. Alvarez is an extraordinary versifi er who shows timeless characters and scenarios, going from Ancient times to present day, always within an impeccable aesthetics, deepness and quality that we have tried to refl ect and that sails, as the title says, between the most purifi ed aesthetics and the most sombre marginality.
