Abstract

The presence of citizens from different origins alters the physiognomy of towns and cities and also introduces new customs and habits in everyday routines, such as new languages from very distinct origins that have to live together with the offi cially national ones. Together with the traditional terms of Romania ‘perdida’ and Romania ‘nueva’, we additionally propose that of Romania ‘de las migraciones’ or Romania ‘novísima’, which is the result of all those migratory movements that were so common during the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries. Fiction, as a refl ection of reality, echoes this phenomenon through ‘an outward and return literature’ that portraits the contemporary version of immigration.
