Abstract

This paper shows a descriptive analysis of
the use of comic strips in textbooks for teaching
French as a Foreign Language in Primary
Education. The sample was chosen
taking into account the methodology, the
publishing house, the publication year and
the grade in Primary Education. A template
was created as a tool to collect data on
the presence of the comic regarding the
methods, the type of documents and the
activities proposed for the use of comics.
The analysis shows that the comics used
in these textbooks are not authentic and
that the books with a communicative approach
mostly use them to create enjoyable
daily-life situations. Furthermore, the
use of comics to present both linguistic
and cultural contents is confirmed.
