Abstract

Mathematical knowledge tests in the Primary
Education Degree are necessary at
the start of the subject Mathematics and
its Didactics. The Indispensable Knowledge
and Skills Test for students of 6th of
Primary in the Region of Madrid has been
chosen and the arithmetics and geometry
problems from 2011 and 2014 selected,
giving them to the degree students during
academic years from 11/12 to 14/15. Out
of the 390 subjects the sample consist of,
in two of the years analyzed the students
obtain marks above 50 % in elementary
arithmetics. The highest mark in elementary
geometry is 38 %. This indicates that
the students’ elementary mathematics
knowledge is poor or, given it was ever
good, students have lost it.
