The tutorial function in nursery and primary school: activities and difficulty perceived by the teachers
Abstract
This study presents an investigation with
teachers-tutors of Nursery and Primary
School educational centers. The goal
was to analyze the activities of the tutorial
function, its importance and time dedication,
and teacher perception about
the difficulties in the performance of this
function, in order to identify areas for improvement.
For this purpose, a Likert scale
of Perceived Difficulty was designed. This
scale obtained good psychometric properties,
identifying three factors: Organization,
Means and Overload. The results show
that teachers give a high level of importance
and dedication to all activities. The
results also show high coherence between
the teachers’ assessment and the time they
use in the performance of the activities.
Teachers perceive a high workload derived from their tutorial function. Significant
negative correlations were found between
perceived difficulties and Time for tutorial
activities with teachers and families.
