Primary school teachers’ experiences, views and proposals to tackle exclusion in the Region of Murcia
Abstract
This article shows how elementary and secondary school teachers in the Region of Murcia perceive educational and social exclusion. These two types of exclusion are so intimately related that educational exclusion may be regarded as the outcome of educational institutions which are unable to deal with social exclusion, especially when students are in a situation of social inequality. The data for the study were collected by means of a qualitative methodology and the results showed the need to create educational organizations more committed with the responses generated by and within them and to articulate social and educational networks
that allow schools to improve the learning opportunities they offer to disadvantaged students.
