Planning University Education for the Development of Competencies
Abstract
Planning and using in an effective way various strategies to design and develop teaching activities with success is one of the most important teaching competences to face the challenge of European convergence that the university has set as goal in the present stage of the creation of the European Higher Education Area. This paper is meant as a reflection about the importance of planning for the development of competences in university education, characteristics and components, as well as the differential elements in the European convergence system. The incorporation of the present knowledge about the learning process, the use of valid criteria for the selection of adequate strategies in order to achieve different learning results as well as a strong impulse to be given to the academic tutorial are some of the most relevant features, together with the implications that the ECTS system has in the planning and management of the learning and teaching time. The teaching function is deeply affected by these changes and needs to strengthen a new professional characterisation.Downloads
