Movement Activities in the Music Class: An Approach through Text-Books
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the different types of movement activities within the children’s music books in Primary School. The sample consists of 728 activities included in the most popular editorials available in the market. In order to classify the activities, it is proposed a taxonomy of motion exercises and tasks from which we have created a data collection sheet. We carried out a quantitative analysis and it has been used descriptive statistics (contingency tables and chi-square). The results reveal an unequal treatment of the movement in the different publishers and a predominance of the motion activities in the text books of the first years of Primary School.
