Abstract

This article attempts to demostrate the role of the concept of «Symbol» in Hegel's lessons about Aesthetics. The thesis to be defended comes from the ambiguous nature of symbol: Ambiguity reveals symbol as an overcoming of its own sense and constitutes it as a consequence of an inaccessible origin. In this manner an excess in the set of meanings is produced which makes the symbol something which surpasses the theory of Art and approaches to typical characteristics of Hegelian Philosophy as a whole.
