Roles and responsibilities Editorial team

Editor-in-chief

  • Supervise and coordinate all the journal's editorial activities.
  • Guarantee the scientific, methodological and ethical quality of published manuscripts.
  • Make strategic decisions about the direction and growth of the journal.
  • Represent the journal at academic and scientific events.
  • Coordinate with databases and indexing organizations to increase the journal's visibility.

Associate editor

  • Support the Director in editorial management and decision-making.
  • Coordinate the work of the associate editors and editorial assistants.
  • Oversee the implementation of editorial and peer review policies.
  • Act as a substitute for the Director when necessary.

Associate Editors

  • Manage the peer review process for manuscripts in their areas of specialization.
  • Evaluate the suitability of reviewers and guarantee the quality of evaluations.
  • Propose special or monographic topics for the journal.
  • Participate in the dissemination and acquisition of quality articles.

Editorial Assistants

  • Support the management of manuscripts and communication with authors and reviewers.
  • Verify compliance with citation and formatting standards for manuscripts.
  • Manage editorial and administrative correspondence.
  • Collaborate in the layout and review of final proofs before publication.

Online Platform Manager

  • Manage and maintain the journal's digital platform.
  • Coordinate the process of uploading and publishing accepted articles.
  • Resolve technical problems related to the editorial management system.
  • Ensure that the journal's website is up to date and functioning correctly.

Social Media Manager

  • Design and implement strategies for disseminating the journal on social networks.
  • Promote the visibility of published articles and the impact of the journal.
  • Maintain communication with the scientific community and encourage interaction.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team in the promotion of special issues and events.

 

 

Editorial Board Member Selection Protocol

  1. Objective

To establish the criteria and procedures for the selection, appointment, and renewal of editorial board members for the journal Cuadernos de Psicología del Deporte, ensuring academic excellence, disciplinary diversity, and international representation.

  1. Selection Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Academic and Scientific Experience:
    • Hold a Ph.D. in Psychology, Sport Psycholog, Sport Sciences, or related fields.
    • Have a recognized research trajectory, evidenced by publications in indexed and high-impact journals.
  2. Recognition in the Field:
    • Be cited in scientific publications related to Sport Psychology.
    • Actively participate in conferences, symposia, and academic networks.
  3. Ethical Commitment:
    • Adhere to the ethical principles of scientific publishing, including confidentiality, impartiality, and transparency.
  4. Diversity and Representation:
    • Geographic, gender, and disciplinary diversity will be valued to enrich the editorial perspective.
  5. Editorial Skills:
    • Prior experience as a reviewer, editor, or member of scientific committees in indexed journals.
    • Ability to evaluate manuscripts rigorously and constructively.
  1. Selection Process
  1. Call for Applications:
    • Publish an open call on the journal’s website and academic networks, inviting applications or nominations.
  2. Receipt of Applications:
    • Candidates must submit their CV, a motivation letter, and a list of relevant publications.
  3. Evaluation:
    • An ad hoc committee, composed of current editorial team members, will evaluate the applications based on the established criteria.
  4. Interview (Optional):
    • If necessary, a virtual interview will be conducted to understand the candidate’s expectations and availability.
  5. Final Decision:
    • The ad hoc committee will present a proposal to the editor-in-chief, who will make the final decision.
  6. Appointment:
    • New members will be officially appointed through a public announcement and will receive a certificate of appointment.
  1. Term Duration
  • Editorial board members will be appointed for a term of 3 years, renewable for a maximum of two consecutive terms.
  • An annual performance evaluation will be conducted to ensure responsibilities are fulfilled.
  1. Responsibilities of Editorial Board Members
  • Review manuscripts rigorously and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in defining editorial policies and improvement strategies.
  • Promote the journal within their academic and professional networks.
  • Attend periodic (virtual or in-person) editorial team meetings.
  1. Renewal and Replacement
  • At the end of the term, the possibility of renewal will be evaluated based on performance and availability.
  • In case of resignation or underperformance, a new selection process will be initiated to fill the vacancy.
  1. Transparency and Disclosure
  • The composition of the editorial board will be published on the journal’s website, along with a brief biography of each member.
  • Information about members and their roles will be updated periodically.
