COMPARATIVE STUDY OF BREEDING PLANES IN BEEF CATTLE THROUGH THE METHODOLOGY OF GENE NOW
Abstract
Two alternative breeding planes are compared in this paper, reviewing the transmission of the genetic progress obtained in the nucleus towards the levels of multiplier and producer. Results after running both planes 7, 14 and 21 years show that plan A (parentage test and parentage-individual test) is superior to plan B (which includes also a progeny test). This seems to be due to the negative efect thal supposes a larger interval of generation of (he second plan, which elfect on (he tiers of improvement does not balance the genetic superiority obtained by the progenny test.Downloads
