Abstract

The current musical terminology in the teaching of French as a second language is limited to various terms generally and directly coming from applied phonetics. Due to its relative complexity, the level of didactic integration of this terminology still evinces the fact that further work must be done to fill an empty space. However, taking into account the deeply musical nature of a living and modern language, there is a constant need on the part of the teachers and learners of music in the studied language to name both the musical elements and also the techniques used to gain competence in them. It is therefore important for the didactics to language to elaborate on such terminology. An initial study of several reference works along with the exploration of the terms shared by the fields of language and music lead to a preliminary corpus from which further definitional research can be conducted.
