Travel book repositoiries as information sources.
Abstract
Travel writing has been one of the most prolific of literary genres across history. From antiquity until our day, there has been a visible concern to leave a record of every place visited, of its culture, economy, cultures and traditions, history, etc. In all cases, there has been a basic component, namely Information, the possession of which has differentiated countries from one another. There is no doubt that, just as today, information is power, and on that basis, since the fifteenth century, and in particular during the eighteenth century, one may identify an interest in compiling all the information in circulation -as, in the present case, travel literature- and presenting it in the form of Bibliographies and Repertories.Downloads
