Contexto pragmático, géneros y comprensión lectora de resúmenes científicos en inglés
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to validate empirically the inclusion of a rhetorical or "genre schema" component in the readers' prior knowledge, to be considered both in the teaching of foreign languages and in Documentary Analysis and Processing. A pragmatic component must be included in L1 and FL reading comprehension models, which takes into account the communicative purpose as a systematic element, relevant for the comprehension of certain genre types by the discourse community which uses them habitually. The concept of "genre schemata" means the knowledge and application of formal conventions that identify that genre and relate it to its communicative purpose. Thus, the aim of this work is to check whether using these schemata helps i n the reading comprehension of certain genre by L2 readers familiar with them as part of the discourse community within their field. The outcomes of this study seem to prove this, and have also implications for the practice of documentary analysisDownloads
