Internet digital libraries of rare and old books and incunabula
Abstract
This article presents a general overview of special collections in the Internet. It shows two points of view: the institutional perspective and that of non-institutional archives, something usual in the network. The method is mainly descriptive, based on an exhaustive selection of all these special collections .cradle books in Spain and in other countries. The main objective is to know the variety of collections, and classify them by their functions, and also to describe their necessary requirements. So, firstly the concept .digital library. is defined. Secondly, the special features of this type of collections are specified.
