Abstract

There is presented the development of the legal databases in Spain, a relevant sector in the information market. From the first attempts in the sixties of the past century by applying automation projects in the treatment of the legal documentation, going through the scarce attempts of online databases, until the great development of the CD-ROM in 1991. We verify the consolidation of the market in optical format and the industry adjustment to the web environment. Finally we consider aspects related to the globalization and the legal protection to databases
