Abstract

This paper describes the following characteristics of the employment of young people in travel and tourist agencies of Mariño and Maneiro Municipalities of Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta State: the socio-economic profile, the academic profile, the position, the duration of the job and the legal support. The level is descriptive and that of field research. The paper concludes that young employees participate very little due to the lack of working experience, the positions they hold are of low and intermediate level, as they don’t possess enough academic preparation in the area, and their salary in bolivares is not higher than the one established by the law. The paper proves that the legal support for the employment of young people in tourist enterprises in Venezuela is almost inexistent, that’s why it is recommended to include this subject in the Venezuelan legal framework.
