Abstract

Coronary artery disease remains the most common cause of death among men an women in the Spain and in the western hemisphere. Coronary heart disease can manifest itself as many well-described clinical syndromes such as angina and myocardial infarction. There are a number of factors, so-called coronary heart disease risk factors: hypertension, hipercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus and smoking, that increases the probability of ischemic heart disease. In this article I review the cardiovascular risk factors, both primary and secondary prevention of coronary artery disease, and I conclude that both forms of prevention can afford tourism.
