Abstract

Cinema and travels have walked together since the invention of the Lumière brothers’ cinematographic machine. Since the first moment they sent theirs operators around the world in order to satisfy the audience’s curiosity to meet new people and new places. Travels films were a practice very extended in Murcia, where it had been developed an interesting movement of amateur cinema between the fifties and the eighties. There were travels films shot by Ángel García, Antonio Medina Bardón or Pedro Sanz in the fifties, period in which this paper is focused. In the same way, the documentary films shot in Murcia served to divulge Region’s image abroad although they usually spread a idea very close to the topic.
