The combination of tourism demand new coastal fishing and tourism: motivation and effects

Abstract

Since early 2000, the EU keeps a line of helping fishing tourism projects. Along that decade were developed diverse projects in regions of Spain, which however had uneven developments, because of difficulties to make this new offer correct. The paper describes main features of the demand and analyzes the ways to design his product. Furthermore, it presents a breakthrough in the results of the effects of ongoing projects, initially complementary and combined with the destination of «sun and beach», but also related to the reduction of fishing effort as well as the impacts in local development.
