Tourism policy in Spain and Portugal

Abstract

This paper analyzes and compares evolution of tourism politics in Portugal and Spain. The study is made in a large chronologic period, in each phase that allows analyzing differences and similitudes between the both processes and main factors. In the first study period, it focuses in the meeting the several items that tending in the same direction: the Leisure Society. Free Time was an activity exclusive of the aristocracy until this time. Second period emphasizes coordinated process of the tourist Politics and the importance of public intervention. In the third period, it’s caused the Tourism Mass blow-up, with main force in Spain. And the end, in forth phase, is compared the different tourist strategies that iberics countries had make in the last years. It’s finished emphasizing differential and similar factors in the politics tourist of each country.
