Abstract

This article offers an auto-biographical analysis from my work experience at the duty free shop in the International Airport of Oslo-Gardermoen. During this stay I was able to accompany labor immigrants, and collect their testimonies and interpretations of their new situation, with one main question: which strategies do these high-educated individuals elaborate in order to complete their routine job? From a cultural analysis of their narratives, and within an auto-ethnographical perspective, I describe and analyze this experience as another immigrant, but also, in the use of cultural analysis techniques, a variety of individual cases are offered as part of this particular frame.
