Abstract

This article has as main objective to highlight the importance of the history of prostitution as a means of approach to public order, morality and female sexual repression during Franco era. The study of this phenomenon in Murcia city shows prostitution in one of the provinces where it was most severely punished. The reports of Patronato, are the main source for studying prostitution, because there was a close relationship between the institution and the phenomenon of prostitution. The study of these reports helps to understand, in addition to the phenomenon of prostitution, moral repression that the dictatorship wanted to impose on society and, in particular, on prostitutes. They were subject to a legal violence and suffered a social harassment.
