Abstract

We analyze the life history of a Republican Lieutenant who, after taking part in the Spanish Civil War and his imprisonment in a concentration camp in the South of France, returns to Murcia and works as a professional photographer. We study an extensive interview with him and propose the existence of two complementary profiles: before and during the Civil War, and the post-war period. For this second period we rely on the concept of homo patiens, an archetype referred to the subject emerged from the Spanish political apparatus. We understand that this subject would use his profession –aptitudes and social skills– as a survival strategy in this particular context.
