Abstract

The analysis of the fifth column is clearly provided in some of the martial boards instructed after the defeat of the Republic. The arguments used by those who suffered those processes open a several readings. On the one hand the role of those who betrayed the loyalty given to the establishment of military justice as ideological instrument. On the other hand prevailing values in the nationalist side and the behavior codes in extreme situations can not be forgotten. We use as the backbone Captain Arturo Espa’s summary of Artillery.
