Abstract

This paper aims the analysis and interpretation of a hydraulic system, considering the relations between the constraints of physical environment and human interventions over centuries for the exploitation of water resources in a territory with a rainfall shortage. Through the study of historical documentation, the collection of testimonies, the analysis of the physical environment and an exhaustive fieldwork, is intended to know the elements of the system, its function and spatial dimension, its influence and relationship with settlements, the agents involved in its construction and the natural features have allowed and conditioned the interventions described here.
