Abstract

The current demographic personality of the Cartagena-La Union territory has been complying with the historical succession of the economic and social transformations which have taken place in this region. Campo de Cartagena is now a unit formed to processes such as: the settlement of foreign residents; the establishment of a significant workforce; the residential process in the districts and territorial, before rural-areas, indigenous residents from another municipality in the area. It is presented a historical analysis focused on the current demographic and inhabits characteristics of the municipalities of Cartagena and La Union which helps to clarify the current processes of residential process of its inhabitants.
