Abstract

In the XVIII century Cartagena becomes the see of the Mediterranean Command for the Spanish Navy thanks to its strategic location. Its key masterpiece will be the military arsenal, where important naval engineering hydraulic works will be carried out, both during its construction, as well as in the further upgrades to adapt it to the changing demands of the modern times that will be implemented during the XX century. The technical relevance of some of these works will bring Cartagena at the top of the naval industry of the moment.
