Abstract

The present work is devoted to the popular medical activity carried on in «The Campo de Cartagena» area. It is focused on the therapies which use elements cominy from some animal species and fauna of this area. Those are the remains of a medical system that has been kept vahd until the opread of the modern scientifi c medical method. We fi nd empirical medical applications of a long historical tradition as well as elements related to magic powers that obey to universal principles, present in all cultures such as the «externalized soul», offl oading the evil, or the similarity principle (similia similaribus curantur).
