Independence of institutions: One of the many legacies of the Cold War
Abstract
The struggle for hegemony has adopted in the modern world an imperial form that is not recognizable with the classical canons of what is understood by empire. But it works as such, leveraging on the currency. Of the various elements of the panoply of imperial construction, we will deal here with the idea of independence of institutions, including those of currency management; independence of popular sovereignty in the case of the center of the empire and national-popular in the case of the territories subject to domination. The idea of institutional independence was outlined during the Cold War and brought to its highest perfection in the period following its supposed end. One of the paradoxes of the Cold War is that at the same time that this idea of independence was being constructed, which has radically replaced the ideal of classical democracy with “economic automatisms”, dozens of proxy wars and regime change interventions were being waged that denied the automatic development of the world itself. The idea of the independence of institutions builds the paradigm of a natural evolution of the world, so that power ceases to be the elaboration and imposition of alternatives to become the interpretation of arcane signs. In this way, the “sigetics” of suffering for common people is built, where its causes appear as a result of simple chance -bad luck- or maladjustment -bad construction- or laziness -bad will-. In the first part we will analyze the theoretical bases of the construction of independence, in the second we will analyze some of its consequences and, in the third part, we will propose some conclusions and solutions that ordinary people can promote to regain control of the future of the world.
