Abstract

In this paper I examine how a sequence ὡς ὅτι, which is first testified in the Ionic of Hippocrates, although without forming a proper locution, since ὡς introduces a subordinate construction, while ὅτι refers only to the superlative which follows, becomes a fixed locution used before superlatives and introducing completive sentences with the meaning of “that”, “the fact that”.
