Abstract

Canuto, ladrón astuto, first Murcian amateur film, was shot in 1952. ln 1953, it was Una aventura vulgar, the success of which at the National Contest of Barcelona encouraged the constitution of the association Amigos de la Fotografía y del Cine Amateur [Friends of Photography and Amateur Filming]. From horh films, two different ways of making films were derived: a more practical and crafier option, coming from Canuto ..., and a more artistic and intellectual one, in the line of Una aventura vulgar. Yet a third tendency arose as a heiress of the family filnling of the twenties. This stage, the significant names of which nlere Julian Oñate, Antonio Crespo, Pedro Sanz, Antonio Medina and Antonio Aguirre, came to its end about 1962. Features of this period were the theorizing liveliness and the important interriational presence of its productions.
