Abstract

The september 11 attacks are the historical event of which more pictures have been taken. However, mass media did not practically published an image of any of the almost three thousand victims, showing a radical asymmetry regarding the war journalism or other countries terrorism protocol. At first time, due to several reasons, the attacks were seen for the most people as a fictional account, a feeling that came dramatically down when we saw an exceptional group of images showing something worst than a corpse; but people in the last moments of their lives, that were censored as well. This will allow us to study the present image status, to question the benefts of the death pictures and to analyze the consequences on the contemporary art world.
