Learning strategies of French as a foreign language students enrolled in a Primary Education degree in the Region of Murcia
Abstract
The strategies used by students in order to acquire French as a foreign language are of prime importance in the learning process. The main purpose of this research was to identify and classify the learning strategies in the acquisition of the French language. University students from the University of Murcia who were in the 1st and 3rd year of the Primary Education degree took part as participants in this research. The method used for its development was consisted of the completion of an already-validated questionnaire to determine the most common strategies used in the learning process of French as a foreign language. A comparison of the use of these strategies was also conducted taking into account gender and year differences with a view to clarifying the reasons that motivated the use of each one of those strategies. The results indicated that the arithmetic means were very tight regarding the typologies of strategies used in both years and in both genders.
