Abstract

This article is the result of a study aimed at knowing the reality teachers are faced with in the Secondary School Bilingual Sections in the Region of Murcia.
This study focuses specifically on the assessment of the Programme from the perspective of teachers of non-linguistic subjects in the English-Spanish Bilingual Section, by means of an interview with the purpose of identifying the main problems which appear upon implementation, as well as the dimensions that more clearly promote a high quality bilingual education.
The results obtained show the following effects of bilingual education on students: development of multilingualism and multiculturalism, increased use of learning strategies and positive transfer between languages, improved school performance and increased motivation and positive attitude towards learning, languages and the culture of the foreign country.
