Abstract

In this paper we want to show the relevance of the wording of mathematical problems as a method to achieve significant learning in secondary education. Heuristics plays a fundamental role in the teaching of mathematics and, as such, it should be used in educational practice on a regular basis, since it both pays special attention to the thought processes and considers the mathematical contents as indispensable tools to implement resolution strategies.
We emphasize the importance of creating wordings of interesting mathematical problems for students which can establish connections between mathematics and: real life, other areas of knowledge, some branches of mathematics itself and history.
Therefore, firstly, we propose several attractive and innovative mathematical problems to be solved heuristically; secondly, we describe the connections of the procedures to solve the problems in order to help the process of teaching and learning of mathematics themselves in Secondary Education.
