Research in the Didactics of Social Sciences
Abstract
The Social Science Education as autonomous discipline at Spanish academia is still in process of consolidation because of its youth. Nevertheless, Science Education and other specific didactics as young as Social Science Education have reached a level of definition and independence among the academics that the latter does not do, likely because of the lack of investigations published and research projects funded by national or international institutions. Besides, there is no research on Early Childhood Education, and they are scarce on Elementary School. The result cannot be different from an absence of a solid theoretical frame motivated by the non consensus about the concepts which must guide the researches. This paper concerns with the revision of published articles in the last decade in two of the most
well known journals of the discipline as well as the dissertations carried out in Spanish universities, where the traditional problems are unsolved. Meanwhile, future research lines are highlighted in order to get the autonomy and consideration that Social Science Education deserves.
