Visual Memory of the School
Abstract
This paper focuses on visual records of school, covering both the motivation behind the production of images and the interpretation of them that we can now make. We correlate the reasons for creating images with periods of school development, we outline the various ways that collective memory can be shaped through graphic representations of school and, finally, we discuss the main factors and challenges concerning images of school in a museum context. The aim of this paper is, therefore, to further our understanding of these images by conceiving of them as graphic assets requiring progress in conservation, dissemination and research carried out at educational heritage management centre.
