Abstract

This work tackles the interpretation of school culture —a universal legacy partially common in educated societies— in the proposals of heritage and citizenship education. It shows how the material and no material school heritage is the material and symbolic outcome of tradition, in the memory of which —something to be rebuilt and interpreted— we are settled and we aim at either directing, in a thoughtful way, the paths of meaning which factual history is going through, or releasing ourselves from it.
