Incorporating New Teaching Strategies at University: blogs in “General Didactics”
Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to know socio-pedagogic use of blogs as a didactic method in undergraduate students. The study was carried out during the 2006/2007 academic course, more
concretely, between October and June, in a specific subject selected for the experimental
part of the research, General Pedagogy, of Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Extremadura (Spain). On the other hand, the main objectives in our study were: to know a social tool connected with the Web 2.0 technology; acquiring necessary skills related to the use of blogs as a didactic resource for the academic and professional development of learners as future practitioners on education area; to express and publish students previous knowledge of pedagogy through social software applications; to encourage active participation of learners; to create a community of knowledge-shared about the didactics planning project concept; and to develop a basic didactics planning repository for future students.
Finally, results showed that blogs are easy both to use and create, they are an important
resource in educational environment through which students express ideas and thoughts, they are beneficial resources for creation of knowledge communities and their use at university level constitutes an useful practice for eliciting the active role students.
